What will my child learn?
We will spend the first 9 weeks looking at families of functions and transformations while also reviewing major concepts in Algebra 2 while going much deeper in complexity looking at ideas of symmetry, asymptotes, composite and inverse functions. We will then dive into exponential and logarithmic functions, rational functions, and then spend a lot of time developing deep trigonometric concepts. A deep understanding of the concepts in this course is an absolute must for students who wish to continue their education after high school in the sciences and engineering courses. An 87 or higher is required in this course for students wishing to take the next course of Calculus AB Honors and challenge the AP test for college credit.
More importantly than math, your child will learn perseverance, and courage to ask questions, humility to learn when things don’t come easily, grace for others when it comes easily for them, discipline to work daily, initiative to learn at deeper levels, and the understanding that GOD has a plan for their lives.
What can I expect from the course?
Parents can expect that homework will be assigned almost every day and the course will be designed in order to help students prepare for college. Homework will be graded in class with opportunities for students to ask questions.
Mr. Warren will administer and grade 3-5 exams per semester. The course meets weekly for 2 hrs. each time for 16 weeks in Fall and 16 weeks in the Spring.
Parents will be expected to log into their child’s JupiterEd online gradebook to monitor the assignments and grades and communicate with Mr. Warren any observations and concerns about their child.
Where Can My Student Receive Additional Help?
Mr. Warren also provides additional help during his Tuesday free tutoring session from 8:30-9:30pm. If you login after 8:30, please text so I can admit you. This is on a first come first serve basis for his enrolled math students only. Students may also contact him via text during the week to see if they are on the right track with their work.
What are the costs?
There is a Fall and Spring Supply Fee of $65 each semester which is due the 1st week of each semester. This includes the rental of the textbook along with the copies of the handouts and tests along with the infrastructure of the classroom and the website.
The monthly teacher fee is $65 paid due the 1st week of each month (4 payments in the Fall and 4 payments in the Spring). Late fees are $25. Payments may be made by check or cash.
There is a sibling or 2nd class discount of $10 per month on the 2nd child’s fees(or any additional siblings after the first child’s class)
Students will be required to have their own (Texas Instruments) TI-84 plus CE graphing calculator—these range in price from $100-$140 new.
“After years of “just doing” math, Mr. Warren helped me learn to actually enjoy it. That confidence he helped me find even turned me into an advanced math student. His SAT Prep Class helped me boost my score over 100 points so far. Mr. Warren is great and always goes out of his way to help his students and make himself available. He’s definitely my favorite teacher.”

Before I started Mr. Warren’s math class in eighth grade, I loathed the subject with a deep, burning, passion; and that is no lie. I didn’t understand it and I didn’t really try to. During my first year with Mr. Warren, even though I was probably the worst student in the history of students, he had the most patience and tolerance I have ever experienced in a teacher. He believed in me even then when I failed pre-algebra. He encouraged and pushed me in a somewhat uncomfortable way to work hard, have integrity, and ask questions in his classes. Because of his teaching I have succeeded in accomplishing Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and currently in Pre-Calculus. I can distinctly remember saying to myself that I would live under a bridge because I would never be able to learn or do math; it used to be my worst nightmare; it is now and has been my favorite class and subject for three years.
Grace
I never thought I could make so much progress. I am now tutoring younger students in math and it is so inconceivable to me how far I have progressed. I will always remember Mr. Warren’s “stupid stories” and the innumerable laughs and memories made in his classes.
“Mr. Warren has majorly attributed to my growth as a person and in learning math. I have taken all my high school math courses with him and wouldn’t have done it any other way. He is always happy to answer questions and give career/college advice.”
– Tori, Pre-Calculus
