Requirements: Students must have completed Algebra 2 before taking this course or have senior status. Students do better if they have previously taken an SAT test

What are the costs & supplies?
The course costs $350 per student for the 8 weeks(29 contact hrs of instruction) plus students will need to purchase their own SAT work book ISBN 9781260464160 McGraw-Hill Education SAT by Christopher Black .(approx $20 at Barnes & Noble)
There is a sibling or 2nd class discount of $25 for the 2nd child’s fees.
Students will also be required to have their own (Texas Instruments) TI-84 plus CE graphing calculator—these range in price from $100-$140 new.
When & Where is the course offered?
- Typically twice a week in early evening, Tuesday and Thursdays 5:30-7pm for 1.5 hrs each session with 2 additional days for diagnostic and mock exams.
- Student must attend both sessions either In-Person or on Zoom.

Last semester I took Mr.Warren’s SAT prep class and I struggled significantly; I really believed that I wouldn’t be able to raise my score, but Mr. Warren thought the exact opposite; even after everything was looking like it was going downhill, he for some reason had faith in my ability and kept pushing me to do my best. Why should my child take this course?
Your child’s opportunities for college admissions and scholarships are based almost exclusively on their SAT or ACT scores. Although you will read and hear rhetoric about grades and other areas of special promise as being involved in the decision and scholarship process, these are actually only very small factors compared to the test scores. Those scores are the easiest way for colleges to objectively compare students from across the nation. A difference in 100 points is the difference between just admission and admission with a small scholarship and a difference of 200 points can completely change the perception of a student in the eyes of the admissions and scholarship offices. What can I expect from the course?
The classes are designed to meet individual needs by answering specific questions requested by participants a day in advance. This course not only shares invaluable tips and methods but also runs on interaction with students. In turn, they will need to make the work in this short course a priority if they expect to see their scores improve. They will need to work through about 16-25 problems each night and even more importantly they will need to email me the ones they want me to cover in the next class.
This course is designed so that I can help the students improve as individuals so they can achieve their personal goals for admissions and scholarships. Their communication with me and buy-in to the process is critical for them to see success.
What will my child learn?
The SAT test is divided into two equal portions of verbal and mathematics sections. The verbal is subdivided into the reading section and the grammar section. The math portion of the test covers
Heart of Algebra—36% Statistics— 26%
Advanced mathematics— 27% Geometry and other topics—10%
Although we will do some reading comprehension, this course will focus primarily on math and grammar as those are the sections where your child can quickly raise his/her scores.
These exams will always test the same concepts but in very creative and novel formats that require students to think in ways they may not have thought in the past. As a result, I have found that the best way to improve scores is for students to do a lot of problems. They will NOT see these same problems on the actual exam but they will develop the mental flexibility and speed needed to think through the exam questions on test day by diligently working through these problems in the prep class.
We will also spend a short amount of time talking about how to interpret their scores and how to examine colleges to see if they are a good fit for them based on these scores.
In this course, we will spend the first half of the course working through problems and concepts and the 2nd half of the course taking practice tests.
